It was announced today that a major contract has been signed for the supply of Volvo Trucks to Al Ayuni Investment & Contracting Co. to support the new projects that they have been awarded recently.
These new trucks will replace aging units of different brands and will be deployed kingdom-wide for a variety of projects from road construction to railroad projects.
Engineer Abdul Karim Al Ayuni, deputy Chairman of the board and board member designate, has emphasized that this deal goes hand in hand with the approach and methodology that the Ayuni group works under which mandates renewing the trucks’ fleet on periodic basis to ensure a continuous production output of the trucks with low down time. This enables the group to meet its obligations and deadlines toward its customers. He added that while some of these new trucks will replace older ones, many of them will be used to support the ongoing projects across the kingdom.
“With railway projects in full swing in Saudi Arabia, our group remains committed to deploying its 40 years of experience in setting up world class standards in precision, speed and quality. We feel very proud to be the pioneers in introducing the latest technology to the construction industry in the kingdom” said Eng. Abdul Aziz Al Hedaithy, General Manager of Al Ayuni Contracting and Investment. “The selection of Volvo’s state-of-the-art new construction truck FMX with the I-Shift transmission came after a series of qualifications and assessments that have safety and quality as core and fundamental elements” Al Hedaithy added.
“We are very pleased to partner with Al Ayuni and supply them with this sizeable order for our high-end and durable trucks” said Nasser J Bayram, Managing Director of Zahid Tractor’s Commercial Vehicles Division. He added, “What distinguishes us is the rare combination of the sophistication, reliability and safety of Volvo trucks with the expansive Zahid Tractor national network and our second to none after-sales service in the Saudi market”.
“With the technical support of Volvo Trucks Corporation, our highly qualified and committed technical and sales teams will be focused on ensuring the best up-time for Al Ayuni” said Marwan Azraq, Central Region Manager for Commercial Vehicles, Zahid Tractor.
The new Volvo FMX is ready for the toughest of jobs. This truck stands up to heavy loads, poor roads and challenging inclines. Quite simply, it is a truck that enjoys the rough stuff. “We already had the robust basis from the Volvo FM with its smooth and powerful driveline, sturdy chassis and comfortable cab but we wanted to tailor it specifically for rough tasks. Said and done. We have further developed the cab and chassis and enhanced the truck with equipment and features that make it simply unbeatable in tough and demanding conditions” said Bjorn Ingemanson, President of Volvo Trucks International Division.
“Volvo Trucks has a long-standing, rock solid position in the Saudi market and Zahid Tractor is a partner of my country and of Volvo since decades. It is very encouraging that Al Ayuni Investment & Contracting Co. has placed this highly significant order. Sweden and Volvo Trucks are partners of Saudi Arabia, notably when it comes to completing the important infrastructural and construction projects that are under way. On many occasions, only trucks like the new Volvo FMX are tough and robust enough to do the job” said Swedish Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Jan Thesleff.
The trucks will start rolling out of the Jeddah based Volvo Trucks assembly plant, Arabian Vehicles Industries (AVI), starting in November 2010. AVI, established in 1997, is a joint venture between Zahid Tractor and Volvo Trucks Corporation with a one-shift production capacity of 2,000 Volvo Trucks per year
